Psychobiology of Maternal Behavior

I am a fourth-year PhD candidate in the Health Psychology program at the University of California, Merced. My research focuses on the psychobiological mechanisms that underlie the development and expression of maternal behavior. Specifically, I examine the hormonal and cognitive changes pertinent to motherhood, and explore how hormone exposure and maternal experiences impact maternal behavior across the lifespan. My research often takes an evolutionary perspective, examining critical life transitions as calibrators for life-history strategies with cross-species comparisons, in addition to investigating intergenerational effects of the mother-infant relationship.
